Leica SL2 Announcement
The much anticipated Leica SL2 was finally announced today. As a totally vested Leica photographer, both with an M and and SL system, I was very excited too not only see the final specs, but to hear from trusted reviewers how they perceived the changes. Beyond the slight cosmetic changes to the body, the biggest changes are reflected in the upgraded megapixel count; the spectacular 5-axis IBIS; a new EVF to replace what was already the best EVF in the industry, and finally and updated UI.
I am excited to say that based on my readings it does appear that Leica has been able to seriously up their offering with the SL2. I have been on a list with Leica Miami for quite some time so I am optimistic that I will get an opportunity to collect a new SL2 some time mid November.
Once in hand, I will be sure and update things here with my thoughts, observations and images. In the meantime, below is the link to the SL2 announcement full of specs and sample images. The series that McCurry shot in China are simply stunning!!
UPDATE 12/1/19
The reviews are now coming in fast and furious and the overwhelming response seems to be very positive. The consensus amongst my professional peers is that Leica did an outstanding job of upgrading what was already an excellent camera. I will post some links to a few of their reviews while I anxiously await the arrival of my SL2.
